Digital Legend Press is a full service publishing company dedicated to the idea of helping authors bring a wide array of interesting and exciting new titles to market. Digital Legend is truly a departure as conventional publishers go. Why? Because when other publishers say, "no way" we say, "why not?"
While we are not a "self-publishing" entity per se' we do help authors to get titles that would otherwise often likely never be published. We are also fundamantally different from a traditional publisher in that we operate on a zero-inventory basis at any given time. As a result you will never see titles from Digital Legend on the "fire sale" rack at Wal-Mart or in the "discount bin" at your local bookseller. We never have too many or too few books in stock. How is this possible? We leverage the full power and flexibility of one of the nation’s top on-demand print providers. This allows us to print only the books that are needed, exactly when they are needed and in the exact quanities needed.
Authors who enter the new-age of book publishing will quickly learn to appreciate the term: "Real-Time Publishing"... which is concept that has been honed and perfected to an artform by the folks at Digital Legend Press.
"Real-Time Publishing" also eliminates or minimizes many of the middlemen normally found in traditional publishing. If you are an author, it's these “middlemen” who end up with most of your book's proceeds.
Digital Legend supplies you as an author with everything you need to get professionally published. A team of skilled editors, designers and typesetters will work with you to get your manuscript polished and print-ready fast, efficiently and inexpensively. Once the book is print-ready, Digital Legend will publish your book through an array of innovative channels. One of the keys to your success is Digital Legends' unique ability to print bind and ship ONE-BOOK-AT-A-TIME and still be able to pay a handsome author royalty all while avoiding ANY excess inventory! That translates to no up front volume commitments on the part of the author or publisher and no heavy cash outlay either.
How will your physical media (book/card/CD/DVD/sheet music, etc.) reach the market?
Digital Legend is designed and optimized for web-based “real-time” ordering and direct distribution. This means that you never physically do anything except create the original work (as a PDF). Leave the work of duplication, order-taking, printing, handling and end-user shipment to us!
Orders are received through the internet so no time or labor is required on your part once your work is resident in our “virtual library” (sales continue 24x7 as you sleep, work, vacation, travel. etc.). In addition, when marketing via the Internet, each transaction leaves behind an electronic e-trail (customer profile: address, e-mail, etc). Such data becomes very important for you in your future marketing efforts. By contrast, whenever you sell a book in a brick and mortar bookstore, you have no way of knowing who bought your book and no way to ever reach them again.
How does the Digital Legend experience work?
In the exact moment a customer orders a book from your website, the last keystroke sends a print-signal to our state-of-the art Digital Presses or in-line fully automated “Book Factory” print queue. The individual book is then e-tagged and submitted as a live print/bind job. Your work is then printed, bound and trimmed with virtually no human touch. Once complete, your book,card, CD or calendar, etc. is packaged, individually addressed and shipped directly to your reader, all within 24-48 hours of the order being received!
As an author, you get a monthly sales statement and a royalty check every quarter.
Costs
In a real-time digital print paradigm, “middle-men” are removed from the supply chain. This means your royalties are split by fewer people. So it is not appropriate to compare print price alone. Vegetables are cheaper on the farm but nobody complains that the grocery store charges more than the farm because of the convenience the grocery store offers. It is appropriate to compare that which matters most to you (the author/creator) and that is royalty-per-copy. With Digital Legend, you get much higher royalties (always double-digit) sometimes as high as 20%.
One-time set-up fee starts as low as $299 The set-up fee includes a free proof-copy (including overnight delivery), mastering fees for your virtual book, a free listing on Amazon.com, your own private “BookLink” URL and integration of your title into our virtual print-on-demand library. Or we can integrate with your own webpage and shopping cart so that after you collect the funds a signal will be sent to our digital press which automatically prints, binds and ships each order as it comes in.
Deluxe Publishing packages that take your title to market range in cost from $500 to over $2000 depending upon the particular title and the number of channels that are explored.
· Our Business model assumes one-book-at-a-time fulfillment. Most printers/publishers are not interested printing just one copy of your book and then mailing it to your customer! They only want to deal with out-of-the-park grand slams, unfortunately it is nearly impossible to know in advance which titles are going to be best sellers and which are going to be duds. Of course, when best sellers arise we are fully process capable of switching over to our "hybrid tails" model that supports offset runs for the bulk of the orders (filling a national supply chain for example) and then filling the long tail with POD books off our presses. Bulk orders receive deep price reductions (those costs available upon request).

· Choose from numerous Digital Products, including case bound books printed one-off to greeting cards, book marks, photobooks, calendars, posters, post cards, mailers, you name it, we print and fulfill it all in real-time.
· Note: Authors always get the full 40% discount off list price for any books they order for their own purposes.
What about Capacity and Turnaround?
Digital Legend’s Print Partner, ColorCentric Corp. is considered to be one of the most advanced “Real-Time” print providers in the North America. They print an average of 150,000 to 300,000 books per month out of their Rochester, NY and Reno, Nevada operations. DLP's relatively small volume joins with their large scale business, resulting in our remarkably low costs and rapid turnaround. Statistically, 95% of all orders are out the door in less that 48 hours from time of order.
