Three hundred and ninety years ago a ship set sail for a small British outpost on the mainland of the mostly uncharted and unexplored Continent of North America. After being challenged by the local native tribes on several landing attempts they finally found a harbor where no one was there to oppose them. The called the spot Plymouth and 102 ship weary travelers went ashore and in the middle of winter, started to build a settlement. Half of them died of sickness by late spring, yet the survivors built a large dwelling and began to till the soil and plant crops.
Why did they come? Why did they leave civilization to seek such threatening solitude? What were they searching for?
