Granddaughter of Willard and Rebecca Bean Vicki Bean Topliff, collected the writings and journals of Willard Bean and then complied and edited (along with Wayne May) this remarkable and detailed history of Willard and Rebecca's "adventure" as the first Latter-day Saints to live in Palmyra since the days of Joseph Smith Jr. In 1915, shortly after the Church had acquired the Joseph Smith Senior farm, the newly wedded Beans moved to Palmyra and began to work the farm. The persecution was relentless at first and many were the troubles they faced. If you have seen the movie The Fighting Preacher, much of that content was derived from this book. Many remarkable miracles occurred over the course of years as the Bean's love and commitment to the Restored Gospel was manifested in their day-to-day lives. In the end, the townspeople gathered by the hundreds to bid farewell to their friends as they returned to Utah after some 24 years.
